Installation and configuration guide

Prerequisites

• A modern web browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc). This means no Internet Explorer.
• Tampermonkey (https://www.tampermonkey.net/) or Violentmonkey (https://violentmonkey.github.io/)

If you are using Tampermonkey on Chrome, you must enable Developer Mode for it to work.

Installation

1. Install Tampermonkey (Recommended) or Violentmonkey if you don't have either already.
2. Install SteamDetective via the userscript manager of your choice.

Configuration

It is recommended that you follow this part if you want to take advantage of all of the userscript's features.

Backpack.tf and SteamID.uk require an API key in order to get information from their website. A Steam Web API key lets the friend audit show when each friend was added, in its Friends since column.

Backpack.tf

1. Click on Settings (this button appears on any valid Steam profile).
2. Go to the Modules section.
3. Find Backpack.tf in the list and click its Settings button.
4. Go to https://next.backpack.tf/account/api-access to get your API key.
5. If you do not already have an API key for backpack.tf, register one.
6. Copy the API key and paste it in the Backpack.tf API Key text box, then click Save.
7. Click Save all to apply your changes.

SteamID.uk

1. Click on Settings (this button appears on any valid Steam profile).
2. Go to the Modules section.
3. Find SteamID.uk in the list and click its Settings button.
4. Go to https://steamid.uk/steamidapi/ to get your API key.
5. Paste the ID64 of the account you requested the API key with in the SteamID.uk ID64 text box. If you are logged in with that account, its ID64 is shown below the text boxes.
6. Copy the API key and paste it in the SteamID.uk API Key text box, then click Save.
7. Click Save all to apply your changes.

Steam Web API

1. Click on Settings (this button appears on any valid Steam profile).
2. Go to the General section.
3. Go to https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey to get your API key.
4. If you do not already have a Steam Web API key, register one.
5. Copy the API key and paste it in the Steam Web API key text box, under Advanced data.
6. Click Save all to apply your changes.
